    Youngsters, eh?

As I've just upgraded to the 80D, I asked my sister if my nephew would like to swap his 1300D (which he bought, along with a Sigma 150-600C last year) for my 750D as an upgrade for his next birthday. I could then sell the 1300D and recoup some of the costs of the 80D.

    The reply was, "You're too late - he's just bought a 7D Mark 2"!

    He's not 15 until October.

To be fair, he did buy it with his own money that he's squirrelled away over the years when it's been given to him at birthdays & Christmas.

But then again, even if I'd saved every bit of money given to me as a child, I'd never have had that kind of money when I was 14!

I think my main outlay at that age was Hornby OO gauge railway stuff - usually a new piece of track as the locomotives, carriages & wagons were a bit pricey!

I suspect 90+% of youngsters think their mobile phone is the best, or only, thing needed for photography. So nice to know that some do still have an interest in SLRs. I still have my 450D and a couple of older but decent lenses that I'd be happy to give away to a young person who I knew was keen to learn - if I could find one.

My biggest purchase then was a used bicycle for $3 that I used to deliver the newspaper with. My Grandfather lend me the $3 to buy the bike and I had to pay him back, so congratulations to him for saving his money and then going out and purchasing a camera like that. He will be one of those young photographers to keep an eye on.

Good on the lad saving his money up to buy a camera, better than some would use it for and it will give him years of pleasure.

That's what we got out of watching Blue Peter

But you can tell him that the 80D will give you better performance than his 7DII. IMO - the 80D is a much better piece of kit!

                              Cheers all!

I did seriously consider the 7D2 but decided that the 80D was closer to what I wanted.

He may revel in his 10fps but mine is lighter, has better low light ISO performance and a better dynamic range! And what I saved means I have more money for lenses
