    Insurance

    Hi all

    Has anyone any experience of insuring second hand gear at all ? Looking at the insurance recommended by EOS magazine.

    Regards

    Specialist photo insurance seems rather expensive to me. I put mine on the house contents.

      Re: Insurance

      It makes no difference whether your gear is second hand or not. Cover will be on a replacement value (not new for old) so keep your purchase receipts.

      There has been a number of threads on this subjects in the last few years just search the forum for 'insurance'.

      As Colin has said most people insure their gear with their house insurer.

        Re: Insurance

        Hi,

        Discussed this with the EOS Magazine Insurance brokers, as quite a lot of my lenses were bought used, some from this forum and some from ebay.

        The comment was keep records, ie print out e-mails concerning the purchase and also take photographs of the equipment. Then in the event of a claim you can prove where it came from and if it's a theft/loss claim there is some proof of ownership.

              I was attempting to say that you shouldn't expect to get a NEW replacement should a SECOND HAND item be the subject of a loss.

                Another vote for 'Home & Contents' insurance; but ensure you have sufficient coverage (value wise) for kit to be taken away from home!
                Cheers;
