    RIAT 2017 - Thunderbirds

    Finally managed to process a few RIAT images; first up some USAF Thunderbirds...

    1. Houston - we have a problem! The T'birds were sat on the runway/taxiway for a long while when the grease-monkeys arrived en-masse...

    2. Getting hot out here! Duly fixed-up T'bird 2 is enveloped in jet wash...

    3. A fairly standard formation pass...

    4. T'bird 5 goes solo! T'birds 5 & 6 are supposed to fly the 'syncro' pair, but sadly T'bird 6 went tec on the taxiway after the boys in blue fixed T'bird 2!!!

    5. Closer please! Not too shabby! This is what these boys are very good at!

    6. Five go Flying...

    7. That's it... show's over folks...

    Hope you enjoy... I'll put up a few more (non T'birds) over the next couple of days before I disappear again for a while!
    Cheers;
    Lee

      Nicely put together series Lee. Being ex-AirForce, I've always been partial to the T-Birds

        I am so envious , I see these so many years ago now I was photographing them on slide film . Such a shame the 6th one had troubles , but the pics you got are nice , and remind me of the thrill I felt when I see them . Glad you shared these with us .

            I'll leave it to you to advise the USAF that they painted the '5' upside down then

              Hi Tom; thanks for that. Only the second time I've seen the T-Birds flying. It's always a stiff call between the various display teams, they're all good - of course! Being a Brit I tend to favour the Red Arrows, but there's no doubt that the T-Birds are tops in flying CLOSE formation. They are awesome!
              Cheers;

                  Thanks Paul; really appreciate that coming from you... Sadly there was a great deal of low'ish cloud so the display was a flat/rolling one which didn't help, but I was quite pleased with what I managed on the day...
                  Cheers;
