Went to Blashford for dawn this morning to shoot the kingfishers once more and as usual not long after arriving spotting a KF some 30 to 40 metres away hovering over the water. After a few seconds he or she started to fly towards one of the perches in front of the hide when out of nowhere a bird of prey swooped down and that was the end of him. The light wasnt good enough to make out what is was but the likelyhood would be a sparrowhawk which does frequent the area. We looked and there was another KF presume the partner who soon disappeared not to return
