    Contre floodlight

We attended our neice's wedding recently and as the evening wore on I sat outside (with a glass of something) and watched the rest of the folks.

This shot was taken at ISO 1600, which for the M5 is high - this is one area where it could do with improvement - and so the image was grainy and speckled with noise. Smoothing that out has softened the image somewhat, but I still like the play of light and shadow from the backlighting of the floodlight.

I wouldn't worry about the noise John, looks fine and will probably print well too. ISO1600 is not terribly high for an APSC sensor.

Works well for me, John, nicely composed and quality looks fine. Good to capture the chap's face as a good focal point. Just wondering if it would work well in mono?

It certainly does...well done for spotting the mono potential Alex.

Oh I'm rather pleased with my suggestion; I liked it before but think it works so much better in mono. Plus you've lightened the lady's dress a touch to better show the pattern, shading and creases whereas before I sort of by-passed it to the purple dress beyond. Great job.

Not intentionally - just a consequence of the conversion in Silver Efex.
