    Old Red Barn

While viewing the Twin falls, I spotted this old barn that used to be painted red.

Taken with the EOS M5 w/TAMRON 18-400mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD B028

Lovely shot Tom and I love the subtle use of colour popping on the barn. However, the bright red of the sign is grabbing my attention too much and in my eye, that sign has no merit in being the focal point. I would have been tempted to leave the sign mono, or at the very least, tone it down to match the highlights of the barn.

Amazing how such a small difference can transform a shot. Now the focal point of interest is on the apex of the dormer roof, exactly where it should be for effective composition .............. the intersection of the vertical and horizontal thirds.

I really like that Tom; an excellent mono with subtle colour pop

                      Re: Old Red Barn

I like it better with the sign color dropped as well. There are two other things I am not sure about though. First is the power lines on the left through the trees and second is the blown highlights. A lot of detail was dropped in the highlights causing the roof detail to drop. That may be due to the processing but I can't say for sure. It is a GREAT idea and a GREAT subject though!
