    Christ Church, Esher

Had a spare half hour in my local high street while MrsR was having her hair done so grabbed a couple of the local church, although I've been there many times these are views I hadn't spotted before.

Both these are good, Alex, and look even better on Flickr.

Nice use of the WA lens in the first for drama & I love the low POV

The mono really works in the second. I'm wondering if you should chop a bit more off on the RHS- say that last domed topped stone - to reduce the amount of solid bush - but that may be just me. That processing is spot on.

Like the first shot Alex, maybe a slight lift in exposure and shadows would make it pop more

Both excellent composition & processing but I lean more to the first one as fave.

I like them both but no 1 stands out for me and has real impact.
Being really picky.....I'd be tempted to remove the two stones at the bottom of the frame...as my eye keeps jumping from the very bottom of the frame to the main subject at the top....I know it would be difficult to replace with grass to keep the frame height but it could be done by cropping. Also the branch imposing top left could be removed......apart from that....and even as it is ....I think its a cracking shot

                  Re: Christ Church, Esher

Thanks all for your positive and generous comments, really appreciated.
Bo, I fiddled with a few crops but settled with wanting to make the focus the 'new' shiny gravestone and therefore I wanted it off centre and to the left looking into frame, so didn't feel I had anything to take off the right. But I get what you are saying as there is less interest there.
Stan, I also get what you are saying, but wanted a feel of late summer afternoon sun. I will try lightening up the steeple a bit though and see how that looks.
Brian, cloning those two out might be a bit beyond me. I hadn't considered the crop as I wanted a long lead in (to be honest I was aiming for some long diagonal lead ins for the challenge but didn't use it in the end) but looking again I see a crop may be a good option.
                  Cheers,
