HI! FSP. I did once try out the Wide angle/macro conversion lens. It is actually like a teleconvertor but this is a wide angle convertor, and screws on to the front of the lens. Personally, I did not think it any good and sold it via Ebay quickly. I suggest you should go in for a proper wide angle lens.

I have no experience of the panoramic lens.

I cannot see the point of a wide lens for panos, simply take several pics and stich them together, just rotate around the lens nodal point.

Re: Thinking about one of these.

My advice is do not expect much then you won't be disappointed...

I have a wide angle, fisheye converter thingy similar to the Vivitar one. Used on a short focal length lens (not more than 18mm on aps or 28mm FF) you can get a nice circular fisheye effect (see here) though a touch of cropping may be required to eliminate the worst of the chromatic aberration. Used at any focal length longer than stated and the image quality is garbage with appalling levels of chromatic, spherical and probably every other aberration possible - yuck!.

I also have another similar to the Opteka one and that's frankly pants in all circumstances with images that are always soft and aberration riddled.

Remember also that the active term in both is FISHEYE - this means that any line not passing directly through the optical axis of the lens/converter combo will not be straight and correcting them in PS or other editing suite is as far as my experience goes is impossible.

If you want something that'll give you a tolerable if not outstanding circular fisheye effect at vastly less cost than a dedicated lens then the Vivitar type is probably worth a punt but if you want to get normal pictures with a wider angle of view than your current lenes then forget it. I note also that you have two ultra wide zooms - how much wider do you want to go!
