    Male and female kudu

Both images were taken at Mala Mala in the Sabi Sand, South Africa. You'll see that the young male has an acacia spine in the side of his nose, which I only noticed when I processed the image. These spines are pin sharp and as they feed on acacia I assume it is a regular occurrence and will work its way out over time.

Both images EOS 1DX with 300mm f/2.8L IS lens and 1.4 III converter.

    Thanks for looking.

Very nice Brian. Keep posting your lovely photos.

P.S. The fully grown Kudu has got very long "twisted" horns.

prefer the second shot Brian as that brighter line across the top of the frame is a bit distracting

Thanks Tom, Nat and Stan. Agree about the distraction. Not much you can do about branches when you're in a safari vehicle.

Thanks antoeknee. Most antelope have large ears, which can move independently. Their hearing is essential to their survival.

First for me too, do the males have bigger ears or is it a sex / age thing, that's what I love about on here, you learn so much and meet species you have never heard of.

I like both for different reasons.

Lighting really makes these shots and the exposure is spot on.

Super images....I get the distraction point above which is unfortunate but two super images in my view.

Thanks Tony, Colin and Brian. When they are fully grown the ears are a similar size.
