    Langstone

very dull weather this week on the south coast...I tried to get a mono landscape from the Langstone Hotel, Hayling Island looking towards Langstone on the mainland.....EOS100D 10-18mm STM ISO400 f9 1/60th sec at 10mm....honest practical criticism welcome ......

I really like that Brian. The composition with the way you have cropped into the tree and the light behind are excellent.

Both are excellent Brian; if I had to choose I would still go for the first one you posted.

Agree with Stan, the first is the pick, but I would have to have a go at the glow around the tree

Nice monochromes Brian. Hayling isn't the most photogenic place round here but you got some moody shots for all that. Did you get a chance to get a shot of the old Mill or the Royal Oak pub on the mainland side of the bridge?

...and thanks Nigel....No I didn't venture to the other side this time...there must be lots of opportunities in the area, but I was limited time wise.

#1 certainly works for me Brian. Love the light rays and framing. The glow is easily sorted. Nice work.

No. 1 for me too because of the rays and mist coming off the water but the second, which I assume is a pano stitch, comes a close second when viewed on Flickr where the raw bleakness of the scene comes through so well.

                          Cheers,

Really liking the first, Brian, stark and moody, lightened just a touch by the sun's rays. And beautifully composed. Smashing.
The other two aren't working so well for me I'm afraid - not sure the mud flats / water (can't quite tell) come out quite right, but always great to see something different.
