If you look at the two images presented you can see that the most detail is close to the poles and the terminator line where the sun, seen from the surface, is low in the sky and close to the horizon. As you look further away from the poles/terminator the detail decreases rapidly as sun appears higher in the lunar sky and throws increasingly shorter shadows reducing the contrast between light and shade and softening the details.Last edited by El Sid; 24-10-2017, 16:51.Nigel
