    Altered Images

    Not the band!

    Finally started to cull some of the 8.5k images I took on trip to Yellowstone, bad framing, focus, etc.

    Anyway this image, elk crossing a river, looked quite sharp and I wondered if it would make a good B&W conversion.

    I like the colour version as it shows all the contrasts in the picture very well- the water, the darker neck fur etc etc.

      Much prefer the colour version. I think Stan's comment on the mono tiger earlier summed it up, saying mono works best if the animal has stripes, or at least some contrasting colour. Here I think the brown is too uniform. Also in the colour version, it stands out better from the background.

          I'm a big fan of B&W but in this instance I think the colour version works better.

              Thanks for comments everyone, suppose it's my days of shooting B&W film is making me waver.

              Comments are thumbs up for colour so guess that answers the question.
