Lest we forget! We gave ours today for your tomorrow.Remembrance Sunday 12th Nov 2017

The weather was very cold yesterday but despite all that St.Asaph Cathedral and the Cenotaph was very full. The day started with the Civic service which was attended by all the Civic Dignitaries, the flag bearers, scouts & guides, a serving soldier, Edward and many others. The sermon was given by the Rev Canon Michael Balkwill, After the service, everyone walked down the high street to the Cenotaph where the Act of Remembrance was held with the familar words "they shall grow not old.....we will remember them". This was followed by the "Last Post" & the Reveille. Then there was the laying of wreaths & the final blessing by the Dean of St.Asaph Cathedral. I attach a few photos taken with my Canon 6D+ 24-105mm lens.

Thanks supergeeman. It was really freezing cold that morning and I am sure most people's faces were either red or orange!

This was the first time in many years that Remembrance Sunday was so freezing cold.

Very nice set Nat. I spent the morning at the Drum Head Service at the Royal Marine Commando Training Centre where I'm a Recruit Troop Mentor. I laid two Poppy Crosses in memory of two colleagues KIA. Cold was not the word for it with driving rain added for good measure. I was more than grateful for the hip flask of rum that was passed to me.

Thanks Trev for taking a look. I would like to mention that the serving Soldier, Edward Hind, helped the injured in the recent shootings in Las Vegas, and he read the Bidding prayers. It was also very nice to see so many in the Cathedral and the Cenotaph despite the freezing weather.

Grand set - looks like there was a good turn out for the service. - I considered going to our local memorial and service with the camera, but other things came first. I was shopping when they did the too minutes silence. The whole shop stood still and silent with the exception of one young woman who insisted in talking rather loudly all the way through.
