      Re: Alkmaar

Thanks a lot Ian. I've got quite a few shots with nice reflections, but nothing of just the trees (I was mainly looking for subjects for this month's challenge - perhaps I should have entered this one!). Still, at least now I have an excuse for another trip out there on the next nice weekend

Chris if you go to burghfield island on the Kennet and Avon canal hopefully you will find a couple of the Dunkirk little ships moored up ,easily identified as they carry brass plates ,many years ago when I had a cruiser it was moored between two of them

Sounds like a place I'll have to investigate Jeff, cheers.

                      Re: Alkmaar

Some quiet interesting places all along the canal as it heads down to the Thames Chris ,used to be a Deep pool that we used to swim in on hot summer days with like a waterfall /weir ,behind southcote Lane ,had my photo on the front page of the local rag many years ago when I went out rescuing stranded sheep in my canoe when the river flooded

                        Re: Alkmaar

There are some great locations around it's just getting the time to get out and about. The weather & light is grim today. I need to retire!

My appearance in the local paper was also canoe-based. As a teenager I was a member of a canoe club and we canoed along the Thames from Putney Bridge to Greenwich. It's quite a novel way to see London!
