Any idea how to improve those? Especially the last one which I think has quite much noise on it...

Re: My home town on a foggy evening

I rather like the fog and you have probably made the best of what you had, considering you were struggling with the light ......... or lack of! ISO 1600 is getting to be borderline with a 7D MKII if you want the maximum quality, but if you had used a tripod, you could have brought the ISO down to 100 and that would have taken care of any noise.

With the last shot, I have been able to reduce the noise, without sacrificing too much detail.

      • Made a selection of the detail areas with a feather of 30, and made into a new layer.
      • Used noise reduction on the background layer.
      • Used Blur of 1% on the background layer.
      • Used the colour picker define the colour at the base of the shot.
      • Used that colour in a grad from bottom to centre in a new layer.
      • Repeat above 2 steps and grad from top to centre.
      • Reduce both grad layer to around 60%.
      • Add some colour saturation and a little sharpening to top detail layer.
      • Flatten image.

      Hope that helps.

          Thanks Tom, Ian and Colin!
I seem to have some serious learning and trialling to do...

I missed this one so sorry

'Criticism' is not indicative of failure but the first step on the road to improvement

This is a great set with the first being the pick for me as it has composition, interest, drama, the lot

I love the composition of the second - very simple yet very effective

The third I like what you're doing but, notwithstanding the noise already mentioned, I'd suggest it's power could be increased by cropping some off the bottom (to the jetty on the right) and some off the left to place the bridge more centrally.

                  Cheers,
                  John

                    Hi all,

Nothing to be sorry about. I should apologise you! Communication is a difficult thing especially when English is not my native language. Maybe I could have chosen words differently? Maybe I should use those smileys more?
My feelings were: "Wow - can you really do that with photoshop?!"
                    Critisism?`I didn't see any.

Colin, thanks for the advice. I'll try the tips when I find time again for this hobby.
And please be informed that I'll continue to post my photos which I think have potential. Then I want you to keep on giving feedback! OK?

                    Cheers,
                    Marko

First is the pick of the bunch for me Marko - keep shooting and posting - I keep learning from what I see and read on the forum (and sometimes I even manage to remember it and put into practice).
