    Newton Park near Bath

SWMBO went to Bath Spa University this morning to do her annual audit and I went along as well with the M5.

The University is set in what was a very substantial house, Newton Park, with rather nice landscaped grounds. These include a couple of lakes so I wandered down to them while she did the biz.

These are a couple of 3-shot HDR images, one from each end of the main lake.

If I had to pick a favourite it would be the second one for the way that the sky reflects in the water. [emoji106]

Like both of them John, but prefer the second. Though I remember hauling fire hose up the bank in th e background when there was a fire there & that was hard work.

I bet it was - a steep and slippery gradient there!

Nicely done because they don't look HDR

Thank you Nigel - I used Aurora and softened the chosen HDR preset by setting the strength of the effect to about 50% - the ability to do this is great because, as you point out, you can get the benefit of HDR without straying into "garish" territory.

Both nice, John, but I agree with the others that the second one takes the prize. And I think I can see why, as you can easily compare the two next to each other as they have almost identical lead in lines up the left hand side - one with the river and the other with the line of the reflection, but on the first one the line just sort of stops, on the second your eye travels across to the right and around the scene.

Yes, a fair analysis - if the main body of water on the first image had been illuminated as the river was, it would had given a better lead in and through the image - but it was as it was and that's that!

It is indeed - the availability of a multitude of presets gives you a good starting point and you can then tweak that to suit your particular intent for the image.
