    Giant Owl Butterfly

Shot ages ago at Bristol Zoo with a 7D and the, as I understand it, much maligned 17-85mm. ISO 2000 as well.

Nice shot...I had that lens for a year or so...never had a problem...fast to focus and sharp...friend has it now and loves it

That was my experience with the lens. The best I could work out was that it wasn't as good as the 15-85mm, but it seems good enough to me.

A lovely image Andy - I also had the 17-85 EFS (came as part of the 40D kit) and it was great until it broke - usual trouble, ribbon cable failure, but I got it fixed for less than £50 including postage and my daughter is enjoying using it now.

                    Cheers chaps.

John, I could never work out why people didn't like it. Perhaps just that the 15-85 is a better lens, which doesn't make the 17-85 a bad lens. Odd isn't it.
