    The writing desk

Ok, I'm not sure about this, I'm trying to channel my inner Tigger, but have not yet nailed it.

    What do you guys think?

I can see where your going just not sure it works. The verticals do need sorting and what you would loose at the side I don't think would spoil the image. . I'm finding the colour around the books a bit odd and would have probably gone for a vignette to pull your attention towards the desk. I think the shot does have potential just not sure you've nailed it yet ...

      Re: The writing desk

That's an image with a lot of potential and, basically, I like it. Yes the verticals need a tweak and you're not as central as you ideally should be but the strange orange cast coming from the lights I can forgive. What I do struggle with is just how soft it is especially on Flickr. A vignette would be a good addition. But, as I say, basically I like it

I'm guessing from the bow bay that this is Coleton Fishacre?

      Cheers,

Agree with John about the softness. Your exif is showing 0.4 sec, obviously that is just one of the images but were you on a tripod (which is surprising if allowed)? Perhaps this or one of the other constituents is throwing off the sharpness, and removing it would actually help.
Also, yes I agree with comments about verticals and need for a vignette. Once straightened I think you could lose the partial picture frame on the right and the bookshelf on the left. Hope that helps because there's a good 'Tigger-esque' image in there somewhere trying to get out.

Yes, this is one of the rooms at Coleton Fishacre.

Thanks Alex. It was hand held but was quite dark. In hindsight I should have increased the ISO but I am still learning! I think that's why it is soft, or as I would say, out of focus!
