Default Either the sun shines on the righteous or.......

.... this is an alien spaceship tractor beam just about to snaffle an unsuspecting skier and whisk him away to the planet Zog for investigation.

Righteous by John Liddle, on Flickr

(It's actually a shining sun path from the very low winter sun in Levi - if you think the whole image looks a bit fuzzy, you would be right - the air was filled with tiny ice crystals which caught the sun)

Great shot John, pity you never got the guy in the beam being taken up by the craft.

Gosh, John, if you'd made that image up I'd have said it was too unrealistic. Great catch.

It's the land-based equivalent of the shining path across the sea that a low sun will give you approaching sunset - the snow-covered forest is quite reflective
