Seen on FB. I would have been tempted to splat the colours a bit more and then brush the mist back in!

I always try to find something positive to say about an image, so here goes:

As an exercise in composition, it works very well and the reflection adds a certain balance to the shot.

Thanks Colin and Tom ...I wasn't 100% sure about this image and maybe I'll have a look at it without the mist just to see if it works better

the reflection is excellent but would be better I think if the colours "popped"

problem is stan you don't get popped colour in fog/mist ...I'm going to look at again without using the fog process

                Re: Misty Duck House

To be honest I'm not really getting a mist impression, it looks more moonlit than anything.

Of course I had to have a play...

Achieved by creating a blank layer set to Lighten and painting white onto the layer at very low opacity and building it up until I felt it looked about right.

I then realised that another thing mist does is soften the edges of the things it obscures so I added a low pixel Gaussian blur filter to a copy of the base image, lying below the mist layer, and the masked out the parts that should look sharp, ie where the mist is least - on the building and lake edge.

This is just a quickie job, with time I'm sure better could be achieved.

its an idea I've given up with TBH - I don't think fake mist or fog seems to work.. but thanks you for efforts Sid
