Time to blow the cobwebs off the kit, almost forgotten how to use it lol Few from the British Wildlife Centre today.

Bit of a mixed bag, not really sure what I think to be honest - 5Dmk3 Canon 200-400,

    BoP portrait

Heron in flight, kept focus lock even through the tree's

This one really surprised me - didn't expect to get anything, handheld 560mm, 6400 iso, in TV at 1/640 inside and through a glass tank

    Scottish Wildcat on the prowl

Couple of otter kits playing in and out of the water

All good David, I especially like the amazing detail in the Buzzard? portrait, but my favourite has to be the wildcat. Great composition, detail and focussed expression on the cat.

When I went for the 200-400, I was a little concerned that the quality wouldn't be quite up to two bodies and a 300mm f2.8 and a 500mm f4. For comparison, I duplicated some shots taken on those lenses and had them side by side on the screen and I could find any discernible difference. Your shots show that mine wasn't a one-off and for all sensible evaluation, they seem as good as a prime.

            Thanks guys,

Stan -yep agree (I know, your in shock huh)

Colin - thanks, I still have doubts about the 200-400 but then I look closely at some of the shots and the detail at 100% is staggering. Just need to get back into the swing of it.

other side of the 'pond' Otter jumps out and does a quick 'shake' when you zoom in and see the individual water drops. . .

Yes - lots of rushes in the foreground and messy everything else but it shows what I mean lol
