    Error 80

    Morning.
I was out with my 5d3 yesterday. It was in sleep mode. I went to take a shot and the camera didn’t reactivate when I pressed the shutter button. None of the buttons worked. Switched off and on - nothing. Took the lens off (Tamron 70-200) and put back on nothing. Took the batteries out put back in and all was ok.

This morning put my sigma 150-600 lens on switched camera on and nothing. Again had to remove batteries and put back in to get working.

This is the first time this has happened. I have been shooting with this camera for the last 4 months with these lens combinations without a problem..

The error code 80 seems to be generic electric/ card fault..

Has anyone else experienced those? Is there a fix? Should I be concerned?

    All advice welcome

    Re: Error 80

The only error I get is if I use a third party battery.

Although I have had one CF card fail....that did have a code, can't remember what it was...I was almost in a panic as it was at a wedding...so used new cards and can't remember the code now.

          Re: Error 80

Error 80 usually seems to be related to memory cards. I'd copy all the images onto computer, then format the cards in camera. Don't erase images in camera and don't erase them from the card via the computer then put the card back in the camera. Some card readers can apparently cause problems with the card which only become obvious when you put the card back in the camera.
Best of course to try different cards.
