    Lightning

With the lousy weather I have been taking the time to reprocess some images as I was never happy with the originals.

    Brings back happy memories Tony.

I saw one take off at Yeovilton, rise 20 feet, bring up the gear and then straight up. Not even a slight angle, but straight up. The sound was deafening and the ground shook.

        Nice pics Tony.

Colin, the undercart is retracted very quickly because over 250 knots the nose wheel gets stuck and won't retract. I agree about how awesome this aeroplane is!

        Cheers,

They normally select up on the ground so when the weight comes off the gear weight on switches they will retract.

Nice set Tony, an iconic aeroplane and as the others have said, so impressive to watch it display

One day someone said 'We need a fast jet, let us bolt two huge jet engines together, add on a fuel tank and strap a nutter to the top.' and lo! the Lightning was born...
