Its a her (Sow) Mark. Their claws are used for digging in the main, not for self defence, the teeth and jaws are very powerful tools indeed and they can inflict some terrible injuries, especially males (Boars) when they fight each other over territory and dominance.. In the days of badger baiting many a terrier has been ripped apart. You cannot dislocate a badgers jaw in the way say you can a dog or fox, they can inflict tremendous pressure with their jaws.

The stronghold of the Badger is the South West, with East Devon being considerable well off. In a survey I carried out some year ago into the population of the badger, we recorded six setts every 10k sq.

There's some in Aberdeenshire that I know of, but I am not aware of any in Angus, used to see plenty when I lived in the Midlands.

                          Re: Badger

I am fortunate enough to have a healthy number of Badgers locally , I find their toilets regularly though I very very seldom see the animals themselves . I would set up a camera trap but I am confident the camera would be gone on my return .

It's also the stronghold of bovine TB so I'm surprised they haven't started killing them off yet. We have quite a number in Warwickshire but we are about to be included in the expanded trial culling area, a waste of time in my opinion.
They come onto our allotments when the sweetcorn is ready, it's their favourite and so I reckon it would be a good bait if you wanted to lure them into photographic range.
