Thanks Guys...the first and last are the most natural for me too....which is what I want with a bit of impact thrown in.
No polariser used, just a bit of vibrance and adjustment of the colour channel saturation and luminance.

One thing that came over yesterday was to get a low angle....but I've clearly gone a bit too low with some of these.

agree, eye level would be much better

Thanks Stan...I'm hoping for another opportunity tomorrow....maybe with 50mm instead of 24mm.

Re: A few balanced flash shots of the dog

The lower angle would be improved if your dog was looking down or level, that would remove the staring up his nostrils look and increase the focus on the eye.

Ie head angle of one on shot three.

...thanks Guys....I’ll have to take a pocket full of treats to see if I can encourage a better head angle....but the drooling might have to be addressed in post processing!

These are working better than the lower angle for me. You have got the flash balance working well. Getting them to sit still long enough to get the shot set up and taken is far more challenging!!

The 1st one the flash and your POV really worked well as the light seems to bath over him, as the 2nd two the flash seems more harsh and direct, but the is my opinion.

Thanks Tom...yes I see what you mean......I should reduce the harshness as I have in the first one to make the light more even which i did by reducing highlights with a brush tool.....I'm learning from this...cheers!
