    Re: Hawk Sanctuary

I always take any opportunity to see these beautiful birds of prey even in "captivity" and your photos are lovely. Well done.

The owl looks right grumpy you've woken him up....and if I'm being picky it may be that the focus is a bit forward- ie on the grass pole rather than his eyes

Having said that the purists on this forum will no doubt decry the artificial background and they may well be right. You won't prizes with these but they are good shots and winners in your eyes
Canon EOS R5, R6 plus the usual suspects ......

Real quality set, love the Owl though, I am sure if I ever looked in a mirror in the morning, that is what I would look like!

          Just one little thought:

Photo number three is of a Great Grey Owl (Strix nebulosa). The clue in the name being Grey, your colour balance would appear to be a touch on the warm side.

Looks ok on Flickr....unsure why it looks on the warm side on here?

Direct upload as my Flickr account doesn't love me at the moment.

This is Mollie's normal colouring, is I would suspect that your colour balance was set to cloudy, or shade. I normally find Canon's Automatic Colour Balance to be very good and tend to leave it on auto, only changing it in DPP for the very trickiest colour conditions, and that is very rare. I did go through a phase of being "very professional" and choosing the right colour balance setting and even the correct colour temperature, but quite frankly, it was a waste of time. Canon AWB was more consistent because sometimes, I forgot to change the colour balance.

Yes, just checked and it was colour balance, thanks for the tip
