House at the foot of the hill - for Bo!

House at the foot of the hill - Colour

Probably needs some further processing to sort the definition between the mountains and sky better, but this is what the image looks like in colour!

Now then, I loved the mono version, but there is a subtlety in this colour version that I rather like. I might be tempted to enhance the sky a little and lighten the house enough to make it obviously the focal point.

Thanks Colin. The subtlety of the colours was the reason I processed the mono version without too much contrast. Take the point about the house. Work to do but pleased overall, and as usual helpful comments from posting.

Whichever of these I look at, I'm afraid my eyes are instantly drawn to a copyright notice much bigger than the house in the title and right next to it. I just can't get past this to consider the image objectively. If you really feel the need for a copyright notice I'd suggest moving it to a less prominent position.

          Thank you Andrew!!

Although the mono was a super image for me this is better.

It's the lovely pinks and greys on the hills where sun hits snow that make it special.

I'd work on those pinks to enhance them, and as Colin says the house could stand out a bit more.

Both have worked which shows the strength of the composition and light to start with .But after a few minutes in LR you've got a stand out image which for me beats the mono.

              And another from me.

Plus another vote for moving the copyright text to somewhere less intrusive!

Thanks for the suggestions Bo, I will need to spend more time on this one I think. The thing I really like about the Lake District is the changing light, this is basically the view from the hotel grounds and I could watch the mountains change all day!

                Thanks Brian & Chris.

Apologies for the copyright text Richard, its a standard setting I set in Lightroom when publishing to Flickr; needs some refinement!!

Like the mono the image could live with a bit of extra contrast and a bit more brightness but not so strong as the subtlety needs to be retained. Bring the house out a bit more too.

Now you've stumped me, I really liked the b&w version, but this definitely has something appealing to it.

I know it is probably sloping in reality, but have you tried levelling the foreground field? Lovely image though

                              Oh this is lovely!

Great colours on the hills and in the clouds and the house nicely shown.

Much better than the mono IMHO
