    I fully understand your point and I strive to get everything right in the camera, to minimise any post editing. And if the camera could record exactly what I can see, I would be happy to leave it alone and be content, as there are plenty of exiting things I could be doing than staring at a computer.

    But, the camera is not as good as my eye to brain evaluation. Nowhere near the dynamic range, too much contrast, burns out sky, darkens landscape and I never see digital noise when I look at a scene.

    I want the scene to be how I saw it, not how some camera algorithm, that can't even recognise and differentiate one scene from another thinks what it should be, within the limitations of what it can do. So, the majority of my time post editing is to overrule the compromises within the camera and bring the image back to what I saw. There are also times when I am in the mood to go a bit whacky and boost the sliders further than I need to, but hell, everyone has to have a little fun.
