To me that looks spot on now.....its all a question of your own intentions...nothing wrong with the original if thats what you intended...hope you didn't mind the comment.

IMO the second is the better of the two as the lighting works much better in that image, then the first.

Well lit and well taken. I like the shot a lot.
Rather then darken the shot to increase mood try mono and then adjust the contrast. Just a thought, it often works for portraits of men.

I have various edits of the image including mono.... but for me I preferred the colour version in this instance
