    Grandstand Finish

This is one of the shots that missed the cut when deciding what to enter for this month's "Skyscape" challenge, mainly because I thought there'd be plenty of other sunsets in competition.

It was in a set consisting of the first shots that I took with the 10-18mm which I'd recently acquired courtesy of MPB. It was tweaked using Affinity (to get the railings to be somewhat upright - aren't WA lenses fun?!) & the Nik Color Efex plugin.

    Comments welcomed.

Thanks, Ian. The inside of the racecourse is accessible to the public (even on race days if you have a "local residence" permit) and has a good path all the way around the course as well as across the middle - known as Ascot Heath. There is also a local footpath that crosses the course itself but you're meant to cross directly from gate to gate and not stray along the course itself. Of course, if no-one's around then there's no-one to stop you wandering along the track itself, especially at dusk!

Ah, Chris, I can see how you'd struggle to choose between those two. I think overall I prefer the positioning of the other one, with the rails more asymmetric, but the light against the grandstand on this one is sublime.

This is lovely. Good job you can't enter 2 shots for the photochallenge as you'd have hogged the podium!

I do like how the light goes across the front of the glassed in grandstand, that and the ray that shoots the other way. Big sky.
