Best wishes for a good and quick recovery and most importantly don't slack on the exercises...
I had a hip done a couple or 3 years back and IIRC I was back out with the camera pretty much as soon as I was allowed to drive again. I remember I was still on a single crutch but that was a lot easier than the walking stick I used before the op - actually made a handy monopod...
Main thing is to only start when you are comfortable and keep the kit down to a minimum to start with.
