Anyone use a focusing rail for macro work or got one . Been looking at some quite pricey. It would not be beyond me to make one. Got loads of aluminium knocking around the workshop, think I will give it a go. Anyone ever made one.

Thanks Colin, Chris. Think that will do the trick, save me having to make one although over the years I've turned out all sorts of gadgets when I was filming.Trev

I have a couple of these with Arca plates on one,
To be honest I rarely use them and the second one not at all, I found two together a bit bouncy.
In fact I also have a RRS rail and carrier I find better, its not as fine an adjustment, but has a scale and pointer, but mounted on a ballhead etc its solid. one of these
