    Sign of the past

Hands up all of you who remember old road signs like this one.

I spotted it recently in a street adjacent to Keswick's Alhambra Theatre. Complete with black and white squares and 'cats eye' type reflectors, it is probably made of cast iron, and this one has survived the Lake District's changeable climate with pride.

Well spotted Stephen, its nice to see a few of them surviving. I came across the old 'school sign' a few weeks back with the two children on.

Yes I can remember such signs though most had gone by the time I stared driving. Don't think I've seen one in a long while though...

Nicely done. We stayed in Keswick a few years back - a lovely place and we saw some decent shows at the theatre too

Nice one, plenty of them still about in the lakes, its a "Cumbrian" thing, rather like the red phone boxes, it's part of the heritage of the place and adds to the charm and oldy worldy feel of the area.....

It does make you wonder if the road was previously regarded as an A road, but as roads in the UK have improved it was relegated down to a B status, hence the "cut out" B inserted into the sign.

Just checked it also has sections of A road, so a dual prupose sign, I seem to remember one similar indicating the route to Buttermere.
