Re: Penn St Station N.Y.
Wow, those pillars are monsters and I totally agree with the B&W treatment.
I do wish those railings weren't there and maybe you could have hopped over them and shot upwards more to get more of the columns' tops in.
That being said you probably didn't have a wide enough lens with you for the effect you truly wanted or if you did then there'd be a party of schoolkids around to mess up the clean lines.
I wondered if lopping off the 2 outside left pillars might help, or even getting rid of the lady on the right. Might give it a cleaner image but overall for me it still- narrowly -misses the mark. A pity- did you manage to get any other shots by moving a few feet in another direction?

Re: Penn St Station N.Y.
David, I can absolutely see why you composed it as you did, and I'd have done exactly the same, and it is a shame about the railings. But looking at it I wonder if it actually works better with such strong verticals in a portrait crop (yes you lose the pillar tops but hey). If you don't mind (now deleted from my hard drive):

Re: Penn St Station N.Y.
Thanks for the advice Alex & taking the trouble to adjust the shot. I can see what you are saying & of course I also understand what you mean, I could live without the pillar tops, but the lady to me adds something to those verticals lines. Maybe next year I will find a different angle to get the guard, lady & no rails. Thanks again.
