    New Canon Lenses

    Interesting rumour
The Canon 70-200mm lens lineup contains some of the company's best and most popular lenses. Nonetheless, with several of the lenses hovering around the decade mark in age, it may be about time to upgrade them. Thankfully, word has it that that's exactly what Canon will be doing in short time. The good folks at Canon Rumors are reporting that Canon is planning on replacing both the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II and EF 70-200mm f/4L IS lenses soon, with an announcement likely coming early next month.
    Canon 5D3, 7D2, 60D, Canon 70-200L f2.8 IS II, Canon 300 f4L IS, Canon 16-35 f4 L, Canon 24-105mm f/4L IS USM, Canon 1.4 MkIII extender, Sigma AF 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC HSM, Sigma 150-600 Contemporary, Tamron SP AF 70-300 F/4-5.6 Di VC USD, Canon EF-S 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 IS

Doubtless at a much inflated price if their recent antics are anything to go by...

To be honest it a trend across the industry. The poor exchange rate these days doesn't help either.

Except the £ has been generally improving against the Yen for the last year...
GBP to JPY currency chart. XE’s free live currency conversion chart for British Pound to Japanese Yen allows you to pair exchange rate history for up to 10 years.

        (Update)
Canon U.K. do seem to be taking the mick on pricing at the moment though... I was talking to an American who was looking at buying a 5DIV in the U.S.A. for $2750 (from Adorama, a major dealer) and was amazed to see the U.K. best price is £3248 ($4375, +60%). All the more surprising as the exchange rate has been improving against the Yen over the last year.
You can buy a Grey IV that's already at a U.K. grey importer (so no extra charges) for £2169 (£1079 less). All my Canon stuff is non-grey as I like a warranty and a dealer to complain to, but you really do need to look for a deal IMHO. Also Canon are taking liberties considering the exchange rate. (I still bought a new 100-400 II from a London shop last week, but that does give me a right to complain.)
