    Take Off

I had an enjoyable half day workshop at the National Birds of Prey Centre at Duncombe Park, Helmsley. To practise capturing birds in flight, it isn't as easy and i'm in awe of those on here who seem to make this genre of photography easier than I find it.
This one of my images from the workshop. I think this is a Horned Owl but I could be wrong, I would welcome a definitive ID if possible? In my cropping of the image I deliberately left the launch/landing post in shot.

As always your thoughts and comments are welcome.

        Re: Take Off

I'm a bit late to this one, but what a great image. Sharp head and body, with a little blur going into the wings. Nicely done, because that is what I strive for. I have looked at the shot with and without the post and I think you are right to leave it in: it gives the image context.

However, your signature is a little dominant and this results with it competing with a very fine image. You may want to give that some further thought.

Thanks for your comments Colin, I appreciate your input and I agree with you regarding the over dominant signature

I'm 99% certain that the Falconer called this a Horned Owl but I could be wrong, sadly the centres website doesn't list their species.
