On the way back from having a large hole in my tooth fixed, SWMBO and I Stopped by Lake Solitude to view this historic Dam.
Near Lone Lake (Lake Solitude) in High Bridge city was erected a small dam, built in 1909. This is the earliest example of this construction type, and it is the last remaining buttress dam in New Jersey.
The dam, consisting of a 42-foot spillways, was built to generate electricity for the Taylor-Wharton company , which produced weapons for the US military in times of wars – from the Revolution to the Korean War.
