Nice to see one out in the open like that.

Have you ever kept a tally of all of the species on your patch, or even considered setting it up as a nature reserve?!

They are getting rare I'm told so it's great to see a good picture of one.

Chris, Yes everything is logged, birds, mammals, butterflies etc. From our point of view it is a nature reserve, everything I've done over the past 30 years in the garden and woods has been for the benefit of wildlife, I'm very protective of the whole area. I've built several hides around the area plus a ground level hide overlooking the badger sett, and a deer viewing platform. The badgers will come out if I call them.

Sounds absolutely awesome - you sir are an inspiration, more people like you and the world (of nature) would be such a better place.

Enough head swelling - great capture

Thank you David, as I mention to Carol its one hell of a lot of work. I been working all day to day - cutting the field, trimming back bramble, clearing paths. All worth it when you can sit and watch the wildlife, it gives you a lift in life. The Queen once said to me, wildlife watching (deer in her case) was very therapeutic. It is, it takes all stress away.
