      They're all good but the first one is excellent. I've often tried (and failed) to get a decent shot of a bee in flight and that's sharp, even full size on Flickr, so very well done!

        Cracking, I never seem to be able to get them decently sharp even when they aren't actually in flight.

                Very impressive. The first one is a gem. Never tried bees and wasps don't like them and wouldn't want to be that close

                    According to Flickr the first one at least is taken at 400mm. Assuming that is correct, it does show that you don't need a macro lens for this type of short and a telephoto may actually be better, less likely to disturb the subject and put it to flight. That definitely applies to butterflies and often to dragonflies as well.

                        Thanks everyone, yes Richard it was taken with the 100-400mm lens from about 1 meter away.
