    Tamron 150-600 G2

Nipped up to WEX to check out a new rain cover for my race set up and ended up getting a lens for Cory lol!

Initially looked at the Sigma 150-600 sport, got talking to one of the managers who suggested we look at the newer version of the Tamron - in shop testing the Tamron was really quick to lock on and looked to be slightly sharper BUT that could also have been because it is so much lighter than the Sigma there is less 'weight shake' and the final decission maker almost £400 cheaper at a pound under a grand.

Will add a couple of Cory's test shots later but for now - in use at Minsmere on the way home.

Take nothing but photo's - leave nothing but footprints!

I went into Wex in Glasgow on Friday with the intention of getting the g2 as i had the g1 and came out with the Sigma C ,not the sport. It was £799 and i got trade ins of £779 for my stuff so it effectively cost me £20. Also paid £40 for the sigma dock and find it much better than the tamron g1 especially the image stabilisation after using the dock to adjust settings. I also found that the focal length can be locked at set distances which is handy.

Looked at that as well, the new 3 stage stabilisation on the G2 is very very good, tried it with sand swifts in flight with pretty good results, the added lock on the zoom on the G2 is also really handy, the biggest thing for Cory was the size / weight, the Sigma was just too big in her hands and having tried both - for us the Tamron won hands down.

Look forward to seeing how you get on with the C

You can see my pics on the Flickr link in my signature. I’ve only taken a few so far. My Flickr pics are set up to show which camera body and lens was used.

David. Now you've had the lens for a little while could you please share your current thoughts about it e.g does the handling live up to your initial view and does it have any foibles that you've come across
