    What are they?

    A really large crop, but still not sure what this pair are? Note the flies in the shot, this was taken from a fair distance away & they were not visible to the naked eye.

    I would say Meadow Pipit, Sorry can't identify the flies

      I would say Tree Pipit - in Meadow Pipit the streaks on the flanks are similar to those on the breast whereas in Tree Pipit the streaks are finer, such as shown here.

        Maybe try to get a bit closer if I see them again, because looking in the books I could not tell which of you is correct. Dave
