Moorland Fire

Don't know how widely the news of a major moorland fire in our area is.

It's been raging since Sunday and with freshening breezes and little prospect of rain the emergency services are struggling.

A major disaster for the moorland wildlife. Fortunately not damaged any property at this time.

Certainly is serious, now declared as a major incident.

Its getting very close to properties in one village and people are being evacuated.

Apparently the smoke plume is visible on satellite images.

Local community coming together, people offering places to stay for those evacuated. And collections of food drink for all those fighting the fire.

Good to hear, hope everyone stays safe, got called out in the RAF to fight one on the Breacon Beacons, spent the night with one of those beaters, you would get a solitary little fire appear, you would beat it, sparks would go everywhere, then you would then have ten solitary little fires, in the end we resorted to taking a call of nature on them as we were just generating more fires.
