It's a while since I called in to Mount Grace Priory. This trip was really to see the garden make over that has been designed by Chris Beardshaw.
But it would have been rude not to have made an image or two I decided to look for a different twist for capturing the Priory remains. Mount Grace is a Carthusian monastery founded in 1398 by Thomas de Holland, Duke of Surrey and nephew of Richard II.
#1. Looking out through a barred and leaded window of the Manor House. The manor house was built in the 1700's using stones from the Priory. It was later (1898) purchased by Sir Lowthian Bell a steel magnate whose granddaughter is Gertrude Bell the English writer, traveller, political officer, administrator, and archaeologist, she spent a great deal of time in what was then Persia. An very interesting Lady who well worth looking up on the Internet.
PS. They are not dust bunnies in the blue sky!
#2. Reflecting on Mount Grace in one of the Manor House windows, including an elderly gentleman catching a few rays on the bench.
#3. Just for completeness a more conventional image of the Priory.
