    Common Dodder

    Today up in my open heathland area, Dodder engulfing a clump of Bell heather.

    Never heard of this parasite before, bit evil isn’t it? Your shot shows just how it attacks its host. Does the heather recover or not?

      Thanks David, In most case's the heather and gorse that it attaches itself too recover. Strange plant, although it got roots, once the plant is establishes on it host its roots die away and it gets all its food requirements from the host plant. When we were kids we called it The Devils Guts!
      It is quite and attractive plant when in flower, its related to Bind Weed.
