    Burgh Island mono

A couple from a break this week, thought these worked quite well in mono.

The island, including hotel and pub:

Very nicely done Alex. The tractor wheel is particularly suited to mono.

      Re: Burgh Island mono

I like the composition of the first but remain to be convinced mono was the best choice.
The second was made for mono

Bigbury and Burgh Island ............ one of my favourite places in the world. Rather like the mono treatment, but a full shot of the Sea Tractor would be nice.

The original Sea Tractor was converted from a l'll grey Fergy, using four rear wheels.

Thanks Andrew, John and Colin. There's a couple more on Flickr, including full shots of the sea tractor.

Nicely done BW work Alex. I like how the varies shads of gray are layered in the 1st image, giving the photo depth and how the white building draws the eye straight to it. Then the lighter shade of gray on the hill then takes the eye to the top, then travels around to the darker parts as you explore the building at the bottom then out to the beach. Then the texture in the foreground adds overall interest to the image. Well composed and processed. +

Thanks Tom. Yes, of course that was exactly my thought process as I processed it... Or perhaps I just chucked it into Silver Efex Pro and chose the preset I most liked the look of. But seriously, I think you have described why it works for me, and it was the fact that the hotel is so bright white that made me try the mono.
