    Covering scratches.

I've got a 5d3 that's seen some fairly heavy use in some pretty grim areas, on military exercises so it is stuffed into a bag or is lay in a ditch with me!

Does anyone know the best touch up paint, or should I just leave the battle scars?

Actually the paint does appear to be rather thin in places and has worn very quickly.

    James.

Paint would probably be too thick and obvious so I'd be inclined to try an indelible marker pen. It'll never regain showroom condition but should improve the appearance. Then treat it to a silicon camera skin.

    Cheers,
    John

I had a battered 1dmk2, I used liquid boot polish, and it covered up a lot of scratches, once dried and buffed, it came up lovely, and doesn't rub off in your hands. Whether it would cover the bare metal parts is another thing. As suggested, I'd consider a silicone skin.

        Covering scratches.

Sometime ago I asked on here about touching up a scratch on a camera body. I’m sure it was ColinC who advised me to use Humbrol Enamel paint as used by model builders. Black Satin number 85 was the colour.
You would need a small fine paint brush and some thinners to clean the brush with. Having said that mine was a very small ding, smaller than the one below the shutter button on the picture of your camera, rather than the scuffs you have.

A few years ago I got some off e bay, which on the label said "touch up paint for canon camera body" which covered very well but although it was touch dry in 24 hours the label advised 30 days to fully cure....fine if you can do without using the camera for a month otherwise it tended to scuff off again quite easily

Just tried the website of the supplier and found the domain was up for sale !!
