Advice please for preparing a slide show

I've been asked to give a talk on natural history. I have some old slide shows using transparencies but would like to create one using digital images. I've made a start using Lightroom to process them, I'm then exporting them to a separate folder as jpeg's sizing them to the resolution of the projector that will be used (1920x1080), either selecting 1920 for a landscape format or 1080 for portrait. I'm numbering them from 100 onwards to make sure they project in order. I will then copy them to a memory stick for use on the clubs laptop.

Is this correct? I don't want to embarrass myself on the night!

I put all my talks etc. Together on Power Point, then transfer a copy to my Laptop and use that where ever I,m going via a projector.
You can make a disk if you want, run it on a large Tv, have done that before, depends on the size of the venue.

Brian - I did a similar presentation to my camera club last year and used Lightroom. if you are using Lightroom you can set up a separate folder for your slide show and pull the shots you want into it. Then you can use the Slideshow tab if running it from your laptop for your presentation or just save the whole presnatation as a file - worth a play to see if it suits your needs Cheers Dave

I have used pro show gold to create a slideshow and set it to have a narrative and a music backing track never tried it with Lightroom

Dee and I have done a few presentations for camera club using pictures 2 exe, not free but you can have a trial. Quite flexible and you can save as the name suggests to an exe file which will play on any computer. We have a whole evening to plan for early in the new year and will be using it again and have now also got a wireless laser pointer so we can advance each slide remotely
