    #9 Coal Mine & Museum, Landsford, Pa

    Yesterday SWMBO and I headed out for a Photo exception deep into the Coal Mountains of Pa. Here is where they have mined Anthracite Coal continuously from 1768 to present. Opened in 1855, No. 9 Coal Mine, located in Lansford, Pennsylvania, is the world’s oldest continuously operated anthracite coal mine! Closed in 1972, the mine was re-opened as a heritage tourism attraction in 2002.

    A Shaft the has a 60 degree slope that the miners climbed up to mine the coal from the vain.

    That’s a very good set of pictures Tom that gives you a real sense of the environment in the mine; B&W suits it perfectly. I like them.

                Great set, Tom. You've got excellent results in what must have been difficult conditions. High ISO really delivered for you.
