    Windows USB safely remove

(Struggled where to put this tip and went with here, sorry if not the best option.)

    The site:
Have you ever lost important data due to inappropriate removal of external drive? Windows doesn’t allow you to stop a device? Accidentally stopped a drive you don’t...

Are today (in the U.S., until 9am GMT/UT) giving away free licences for "USB Safely Remove" version 6.1, and having used version 5.3.8 for a long time I'd like to recommend it to people who read camera memory cards via PC card readers, as I think it is a great way to avoid some of the problems people have. (The built-in Windows USB handling having caused me and others I know a lot of problems over the years...)

I have no connection with either the site or the software, other than as a satisfied user. Do however note I've only just installed 6.1 and so can't vouch for it beyond saying 5.3.8 was really good.

P.S. Can I also recommend using https://10minutemail.net/ to get the download address...

BTW the firm are giving away free licences for another day (a bit over as I write) at https://safelyremove.com/giveaway2018g.htm
I assume you'll need to download the software from them though.
