    Lichfield inspired portrait

inspired by a portrait of Lord Lichfield with his labrador...I took this today....it needs some work to get it anywhere near as good. EOS200D 24-105 F4L. wireless trigger, tripod mounted flash on manual, camera on manual...fired using Canon connect App

I think it works very well Brian, is the extra work you suggest to create more separation between your hairline and the background

Yes it is...maybe with another flash from behind. The Lichfield version also uses a nice studio background...so I think it would need a retake to achieve all that. Unfortunately Harvey hates the flash and I think it’s unfair to try to repeat the exercise now.

I think you have the composition and exposure nailed and he's such a photogenic dog

The only problem I have is that I find the shadow cast by your glasses just a touch distracting. I know nothing of studio lighting but could a small fill-in flash or modelling light have avoided that?

                          Cheers,
                          John

Thanks Trev and John....I was lazy as I could have triggered two flashes and maybe that would have cured the glasses shadow...it had occurred to me that it spoils the shot to some degree but I’ll have to live with it...I’ll have another go at some point.
